October 7, 2012 (Psalm 4:2)

October 7, 2012

‘How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods’? (Ps. 4:2)

‘They committed adultery with their idols; they even sacrificed their children, whom they bore to me, as food for them.’ (Ezek. 23:37)

‘It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. So watch yourselves.’ (Luke 17: 2, 3)

‘Father, forgive us for forsaking the good of our children for own liberties. We have sacrificed them in the fire of our lusts. Have mercy on us. Sober us with the impact of our sin. Inspire in us the grief You bear for the loss of Your little ones.  In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we confess our sins of cowardice and compromise. We have violated Your holy commands in regards to what we have done to our bodies and other bodies. And in our compromise we have become cowards, unwilling to stand for what we know to be true for the dignity of all. We ask that You might have mercy on Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington; uphold marriage in these states, and in our nation, as the Supreme Court prepares to rule on ‘gay marriage.
