Restraint is Not Redemption

A Christian in India remarked recently to me: ‘We look to America to lead the way. Last June, most US-related companies and all government ones flew rainbow flags and promoted ‘Pride’ in various ways. This year, we experienced little to no ‘Pride-push’ in our country at all.’

What a difference a president makes. While Biden built on a ‘gay marriage’ foundation (initiated under Obama’s presidency) by offering civil rights in full to LGBTQ+-identified persons, Trump signed an executive order on his first day in office, asserting that the federal government will only recognize two biological sexes, male or female.

Slam dunk. He declared war on Biden’s non-binary gospel and has trounced it over the last 6 months.

Consider this: liberal The Atlantic magazine just outed all the ‘zombie facts’ employed by the trans-youth medical community. Medical untruths about the positive impact of ‘transitioning’ drove kids to irreparable false solutions. Accordingly, SCOTUS upheld states’ rights to ban gender ‘transitions’ for minors.

Trump rolled back a host of trans-rights, including refusing to allow trans-identified persons to serve in the military. A recent SCOTUS decision upheld the military trans-ban. (See here and here).

The Trump administration has vowed to cut funding for all schools that allow trans-athletes. Relatedly, SCOTUS just gave parents the right to opt their children out of LGBTQ+ instruction in public schools.

Big businesses like Target and Budweiser are reversing investment in LGBTQ+ causes: pulling out of big city ‘gay’ parades and divesting from rainbow merchandise and advertising. (See here and here.)

Trump is leading America in mainstreaming ‘common sense’ in the sexual arena. Though it has moral and religious undertones, Trump’s binary approach requires no particular dogma. Call it natural law. If honest, most Americans are uncomfortable with Biden’s open border approach to sexual fragmentation. Trump caught that zeitgeist, as he did anti-immigration (apples and oranges to me; I applaud his sexual restraint and decry the xenophobia he inspires.)

Restraint. Stop raising Pride flags as the premier sign of moral generosity. It may be more loving to disagree with the ‘gay’ wedding and sexual ‘re-identification’ than to fold into another’s misdirection.

Most importantly, restraint benefits children; it alleviates the confusion little ones face amid a proliferation of sexual ‘selves.’

But restraint isn’t redemption. Don’t rubberstamp Trump as an integrated moralist. He is fine with ‘gay’ cabinet members and traditional idolatries (as long as you adore him and at least appear Fox-Newsy-conservative).

Trump’s big beautiful bill won’t save a single soul. We have to offer more.

I am thinking about the people who got burnt by the crossfire lit by Obama and fanned by Biden: good people deceived into bedding and wedding their same-sex friend or living the nightmare of trying to become another ‘sex,’ often alienating loved ones in the process.

Where will they go? ‘Common sense’ may embitter them and do little to equip conservatives to help them.

Here, restraint is limited. Yet Scripture points to the law as having power to point beyond itself (1 Tim. 1:8-11), guiding seekers to holy ‘love which comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith’ (1 Tim. 1:5).

But we must do our part. A deactivated Church is an accusation, not an invitation. Let’s help them. Stir up faith: Jesus, who made each one, knows them better than anyone, can amplify our simple efforts to reveal Himself to them.

Only Jesus, through members, can unite him or her in an intimate bond of love that satisfies. Real safety and belonging? Only Jesus and Church, the everlasting arms.

Citing Trump and his policies could make Desert Stream only for Trumpers. You would lose financial supporters since things are becoming more divisive in this country I fear. Possibly many who support your mission to help same sex strugglers get freedom are not Trumpers

Citing Trump’s common sense approach to binary sexuality while disagreeing with his immigration policies clearly reveals that I am not a pro-Trumper. What it reveals is how polarizing and irrational anti-Trumpers are. Please pull the beam out of your own eye before assuming DSM and myself are politicizing our offering. Ours is a pastoral offering, open to everyone who seeks sexual redemption. That is the point and conclusion of this piece. Perhaps you are the polarizing voice here. Don’t let your hatred for Trump cloud your reason.

I have a lot of trouble with Desert Stream going political… praising Trump and bashing Obama and Biden. Possibly praising certain policies would be better.

I am bemused by Trump and company, not enamored. Yet I applaud his restraint of sexual anarchy. What you are hearing from me is all about policy and its limits. It sounds like you are reading into my piece because of blinders you have, possibly towards Trump.

As soon I read the Headline that only 2 biological genders would be recognized, the first thought came to mind was, ohhh!!!The whole world is saved and profiler's duty is reduced. But the fear of true reason behind the new policy, which doesn't seen to the world kept me worried of it. I think this is what the true souls prayed and wished for. One day the world will be cleansed.🤞

Hi Andy. You write so very well. Thank you for spreading truth always. You helped me about 40 years ago at 1 of your conferences in Los Angeles. It was the beginning of a long journey out of homosexuality and out of a homosexual identity.. I owe my sanity to you and men like you and, of course, Christ. Thank you. Paul
