Your Responses Encourage Me…
to prayerfully seek a way through our political wilderness. I’ve not much to say about it—no politico, me—but I like you am obliged by God for country. The debate threw up a roadblock; I’m at an impasse due to what I perceive to be an intolerable unreality in both candidates. So I now pray and listen and study and try to be as informed as possible to vote on Election Day, Nov. 5th.
Someone urged me to ‘stay in my lane.’ I’d have swerved out of mine if I sought to persuade you with overwrought assumptions. But I wouldn’t be true to Jesus and you if I didn’t admit my impasse and seek a way through it. Thanks for helping.
"Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that at the right time he may lift you (us) up. ...". 1 Peter 5:6
Help us Jesus we pray, Amen.
I share your dismay, Andrew. Where I am right now in my thinking is that I am planning to vote for the party of one of the candidates, not the person.
Honestly I feel the same way. Last friday as we gathered with a few friends for prayer and a little worship my heart was heavy for America. As I gave the burden to Christ to carry and lifted it before the Father my weight was lightened. I can only ask Him for wisdom each day in every decision as we walk forward. My hearts cry is for Mercy on our country and that blinded eyes would be opened, and deaf ears unstopped, and hard hearts softened.
Thank you for your thoughts. I am refreshed that God is on the throne, lifting up and taking down leaders as He so desires. I pray vote and pray some more. The election will pass de cisions made good or bad, but we walk with God through it all. Nothing new to Christians. From persecution of Rome, to being the religion of Rome and everywhere in between the Kingdom of God is on the move. Listen, obey, repeat.
To God be the glory for .great things He has done and will do.
It is reassuring to see others seeking in prayer to hear the whole council of God rather than settle for low resolution heuristics. I join you in listening for His voice and His heartbeat. May His holy presence surround and fill us all!
